Nearly 18 months ago I started a petition calling for an animal abuse register. 30 March 2016 the petition calling for an animal abuse register was delivered to DEFRA with around a half-million signatures. My work did not stop there at the end of 2016 I, along with my husband Brian, met with Bethan Jenkins, Plaid Cymru, AM and on 20 January 2017 she introduced a Private Member’s Bill in the Welsh Assembly calling for an animal abuse register. A few months later, I along with my husband, the Green Party on 31 March 2017 passed the animal abuse register as policy. My recent successes, with the Green Party, and the hard work of Bethan Jenkins, and Jenna Slattery from Wales shows our voices are beginning to be heard. Having the animal abuse register passed as Green Party Policy is a major step forward for the animal abuse register as it will allow elected Green Party members to publicly speak about the need for the register. This means, politicians in other parties cannot ignore the need for the animal abuse register because the Green Party will be the voice. Labour and the Conservatives may believe it is easy to ignore half-million voices. However our voices are being heard and they are getting louder. It is too early to say but another update might be coming that will help our voices get heard even more as we are meeting with further people who are looking at supporting the animal abuse register. The path in bringing an animal abuse register to the United Kingdom will not be easy and it will take time. However, the register is now within reach. In order to get the register to this point, my husband and I have taken time from our annual leave. We have used our personal funds to promote and for travelling to speak about the register. For us to deliver the register, we need your help. Please continue to write to the PM Theresa May regarding the need for the register, please write your local MP, attend your local MP surgery pushing for an animal abuse register, and write your editor your local paper. Likewise if you want to become more involved please consider contributing £1 by clicking the below link / button. This will help by providing the funds needed to promote and discuss the register. I thank you in advance for your support and looking forward to a successful 2017. Yours Sincerely, Maxine& Brian Berry Justice for Chunky & for all animals Click here to donate: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=X95VA7LFX3KDG
