Please support Haywood Academy's bid to create a new 6th Form College in the disused Old Town Hall in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.

Please support Haywood Academy's bid to create a new 6th Form College in the disused Old Town Hall in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.
The Issue
Please show your support for Haywood Academy who want to turn the disused Old Town Hall in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, into a new 6th Form College, operational from September 2015.
There is a skills shortage across the city of Stoke-on-Trent, which is hindering economic regeneration. The lack of a local 6th Form provision is deterring students in Burslem from continuing in education, and is having a negative effect on the local economy. Creating the 6th Form in the Old Town Hall will help to build the educational capital that could transform the future for so many people in the Burslem area.
Aditionally, creation of a 6th Form in the Old Town Hall building will greatly help to regenerate Burslem, bringing much needed footfall into the Town during the day. This is crucial for local traders, many of whom are struggling in difficult economic conditions, and it will undoubtedly be the difference that will enable some to stay in business.
Creation of the 6th Form will save a much-loved listed building, that is currently unoccupied, from further dereliction - enabling it to be refurbished and brought back into use for the public.
Haywood Academy's plans for the new 6th Form include providing an IT facility and a Library for the Town - both of which are currently missing. There is no free, public access to IT at present in Burslem, which is a real barrier to many unemployed people from the Town in their search for work.
The creation of a 6th Form, by Haywood Academy, in the Old Town Hall in Burslem, will be fantastic for the Town in so may different ways. We urge you, please, to give it your full support.
