On the 5th of November 2018 the Guardian newspaper published an article in which  Prince Charles admitted that "Britain's involvement in the transatlantic slave trade was an "appalling atrocity". The heir to UK's throne made his comments in a speech in Ghana, from where many Africans were shipped away to a life of slavery, most across the Atlantic, on ships from Britain and other nations. Britain had been involved in the transatlantic slave trade for more than 200 years. He added " the profound injustice of that legacy could never be forgotten, the appalling atrocity of the slave trade and the unimaginable suffering it caused left an delible stain on the history of the world" .

The British tax payers paid out large sums in compensation to former slave owners though none was handed to the people that have been enslaved. Prince Charles intervention was a significant step towards officially acknowledging the damage the UK helped to cause during the period.  The Royal family have faced repeated calls from some quarters to apologise for the country's part in the transatlantic slave trade, the Guardian article states. The aim of our petition is as follows:

1. We are writing this petition to address the issue of tax refunds to those in the diaspora whose taxes contributed to the treasury compensation payouts to slave owners collected up until 2015 to be refunded with interest in the form of a monetary cash rebates.

2. We are also appealing for direct intervention with the Royal Family the Government, Roman Catholic  Church, all slave owning families and all institutions that benefited from slavery to pay compensation and REPARATIONS via a Compensation Recovery Unit proceeds of which should be distributed to the descendants of their enslaved ancestors who reside or resided in the UK. Also to pay compensation to victims of racial abuse.

3.To create an Exodus Resettlement Programme for those black people who have suffered racism and desire to leave the UK to reside in Africa or their native countries. This includes DNA testing to find out their origin and include compensation  funds to purchase land, build  property and develop infrastructure in  the community in which they live and assist with integration, assimilation including culture and language lessons, financial and psychological support.
