The Next Chapter: From Petition to Policy

This petition was never meant to be the end goal. It was proof of concept. Over 22,875 people read the case for citizenship and the right of return for the African diaspora, and 618 of you shared it. That is real evidence this issue deserves more than a signature count. It deserves policy.

We are closing this petition and shifting CRDEA's work from grassroots petitioning into direct policy advocacy.

Here is what that means. We are taking this argument past a sign-up form and into the rooms where citizenship and investment policy actually get written.  Right now our focus is what we call the "$100,000 to $500K  Wall," the investor permit thresholds in parts of Africa that are set high enough to push diaspora capital toward Southeast Asia instead of home. We are building the policy case, grounded in real data on remittances and diaspora investment, for lowering that wall and creating dedicated pathways for descendants of enslaved Africans to return, invest, and build.

The backdrop finally matches the seriousness of the issue. The UN has recognized the transatlantic slave trade as one of the gravest crimes against humanity. CARICOM has a revised Ten Point Plan for reparatory justice on the table. This conversation has moved from symbolic to structural, and we intend to be in the room for it.
