There are reports this morning that the Prime Minister will take the idea of a Royal Commission to cabinet and the states in the coming weeks. Reading the reports he seems very much in favour of it himself.

This is very good news, but we can’t rest on any laurels.

I think it is critical that we get the number of signatures up to 100,000.

A number that size carries a lot of psychological weight. And there will be members of cabinet and those surrounding the government that will resist the calls for a Royal Commission.

It is also important to put our case forward because the terms of reference need to be very wide, and the reasons I’ve described in the petition should be good reminders of many of the issues that the terms of reference need to cover.

So it is still very important that we get our petition in front of them.

To that end please share it where you can. We now have eighteen thousand more signatories than when I last updated, and if all of those people, and any who haven’t already shared it, could then we can really boost our numbers.
