Hi all, in addition to the many acknowledgements from those who have lodged an ACCC complaint, I have received a number of requests this morning to send the complaint form link and some key information so members can lodge their ACCC complaints. The decision to lodge a complaint must be your own and this is a very important part of getting this massive wrong against members righted (The Fight for Right) Key points are that the ACCC are required by law to investigate Misleading or Deceptive conduct wherein consumers could have been deceived or mislead in making purchasing decisions and or joining or aligning with something due to such practices. Key points with the commonwealths management of Medibank private are; 1. Medibank Members felt they were joining a mutual run by the commonwealth. 1a. After all, in 1988 then Chairman of the Health Insurance Commission (Medibank Private and its members Custodians) Mr Fred Millar wrote in the annual report "Medibank Private is a non-profit organisation based solely on its contributors’ funds. The Government has no financial interest in Medibank Private’s assets and reserves. Medibank Private’s assets and reserves are the property of its contributors" 2. Annual reports showed equity in the fund as Members equity. 3. When signing up to Medibank Private we signed up for Membership not as a Policyholder as the Commonwealth now conveniently calls us . The feeling most people I have spoken to was that they were joining a mutual run by the commonwealths management 4. The constitution of Medibank required that member contributors funds be treated differently to how the Commonwealth has now legislated without notice to members about. 5. Previous governments to Howard /Rudd government considered members the owners of the fund based upon various departmental and legal advice etc at the time. 6. The founding General Manager of Medibank Private and its former CEO all are of the view that members have been possibly ripped of by the actions of the Commonwealth since 1997. 7.
