Stop college students from violently misusing the word "deconstruct(ion)"

The Issue

Since its birth in the late 1960s, deconstruction, an approach to textual criticism which employs locating the inherent contradictions in a work of art as to enhance the possibility of a plurality of textual meanings, and debase Western philosophy's fetishistic obsession with logocentrism, has been violently appropriated by verbose college students in an attempt to pronounce their intellectual posturing by coming up with a synonym for dissection that was coined by a french guy who is seen smoking from a pipe in almost every photograph. Stopping this shameful display of intellectual dishonesty is just one step further toward curbing academic masturbation in the American University.

Join me, Nebila, and the posthumous Jacques Derrida, in deploring these students who make a mockery of the tradition of literary criticism!
