I am delighted to inform each and every one of you 900+ participants that this petition together with pressure put on local councillors has resulted in the scrapping of this dreadful plan.

The victory couldn't have been any closer with a full council vote being won by a mere 1 vote at 16/15. It couldn't have been closer.

This was never an anti-cycling stance, just an anti-dangerous-scheme campaign. We may have won but we still lack a decent cycle route. So we will petition ESCC to reinvestigate an alternative , safer route. Done with the hope that the £560k available to this scheme can be retained for that new plan rather than expiring in April
