Hello all,
First I would like to sincerely thank those who have signed, donated, and written in support of this petition. I would also like to thank my colleague Maddie Miller for the amount of hard work and dedication she has put into this cause. Because of this collective support, I am able to share some exciting news with you all;
We have been in contact with Rick Larson’s legislative assistant. Rick serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and heads the aviation subcommittee.
“The Subcommittee on Aviation has jurisdiction over all aspects of civil aviation, including safety, infrastructure, labor, and international issues. Within this scope of responsibilities, the Subcommittee has jurisdiction over the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a modal administration within the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). This jurisdiction covers all programs within the FAA as well as aviation programs of the USDOT with respect to the economic regulation of air carriers and passenger airline service. In addition, the Subcommittee has jurisdiction over commercial space transportation, the National Mediation Board, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).” -House Transportation
There are many moving parts in making change happen but currently, the aviation subcommittee has talks on mental health in aviation docketed for the summertime. This means that there will be congressional hearings that involve communication about mental health standards at the FAA level.
As we move forward with our efforts to change the aeromedical standards we ask for your help in endorsing our message by signing and sharing the petition.
