Save the Fun Shop

Save the Fun Shop
The Issue
After more than 60 years in business, the iconic Fun Shop in Middleburg, VA is on the market and faces the threat of closure. The shop, established in 1956, is a staple of the Middleburg community, and, to many people, it is hard to imagine the town without it. The owners have said that they may not want the new owners of the building to keep the shop after it is sold, remembering how the old Coach Stop Restaurant had not been run as well under its last owners.
There is absolutely no other store like the Fun Shop, in Middleburg or anywhere. It may appear small on the outside, but inside it seems to have a little bit of everything. It is also the home of Middleburg's town-themed merchandise, which may not be sold anywhere should the shop close.
The front exterior of Middleburg's beloved Fun Shop
Every town has a few long-standing businesses that help make it what it is. Middleburg lost one of those, the Coach Stop, in 2010, but the Red Fox Inn and the Fun Shop are still serving the town with pride, and we hope it stays that way for many years to come. While we understand the owners' wishes to retire, we hope that the Fun Shop flame can be kept burning for many generations to come. Middleburg would not feel like Middleburg without the Fun Shop.
