The undersigned Oakland residents hereby call upon the Oakland City Council to issue a Request for Proposals that would allow multiple organizations to bid on the contract to manage the Grand Lake Farmers Market and to also simultaneously approve operational guidelines that would better protect the park’s infrastructure; require off-site parking for vendors; and minimize congestion by imposing limits on the market's footprint. This two-fold process would help ensure that the park is adequately protected; leasing fees to the city maximized and the market's vast unrealized potential as a community based asset and resource realized.
