Waleed Aly dedicated a segment, on Channel 10's the Project, toward the current Roosh V debacle. Instead of giving him airtime, Aly suggested that we instead ignore him so he supposedly loses the 'power' that he has gained through social media awareness.
I am usually a big fan of Aly's but I have to respectfully disagree with his overall point.
The ultimate goal of my petition and the resulting media awareness is to further discuss misogyny, rape and violence against women in Australia.
If this petition, which has gained over 80,000 signatures prevents Roosh V from entering the country then it has achieved a lot more than keeping quiet would have.
I, and many people, cannot stay silent about such an extreme case of misogynistic ideologies. We shouldn't have to stay quiet. We need to be screaming from the rooftops that what Roosh V advocates is not only completely immoral but it is also not welcome in Australia.
I, and many people of Australia, will not stay quiet!
