Hey, wanted to share with you this news article (it's in Italian but thanks Google for translating!). Ryan said he fears a sequel might not be well-received, since the first one had to battle against Angry birds and, unfortunately, people decided to go see that more than The Nice Guys. 

Personally I think a lot more people have had the occasion to watch the movie now, so they might be more invested in going to watch the sequel in theaters. I would be the first in line :)
