The Big 10 and Atlantic Coast Conference are two of the historically great conferences in NCAA athletics. The fans of the member institutions do not want to have their schools switching allegiance simply because more money can be made. Universities with billions of dollars in endowments should not be ruining college athletics for a few million dollars. Fans want to play games against their regionally relevant, historical rivals.
