There is a striking contradiction at the heart of a recent current safeguarding policy (June 2026). Government insists that tech companies must now prevent children from seeing nude images online, yet it permits public naked events where children can be exposed to full adult nudity in the street, appear in the background of photos, and end up in participant selfies shared online.
There is no meaningful safeguarding, no controlled environment, and no consent from families simply passing by. Some participants even stop to rest while children walk past, the photos are out there. How can government demand strict online protections while turning a blind eye to the same risks happening openly on our streets.
Conveniently looking away does not safeguard children.
