I matter, you matter, the people around us matter, and the four honorable men depicted on our beautiful monument matter and what they fought for defending their families matters.
This is why this monument and others honoring all American veterans matter. Without our monuments as a constant reminder, the sacrifices made by our veterans would be lost to the next generations of Americans.
We can not let that happen. We owe our freedoms to these veterans and we must keep alive their stories of valor and perseverance to act as future lessons of bravery otherwise their sacrifices will have been in vain.
On this the day we celebrate Louisiana Confederate Memorial Day and the birthday of President Jefferson Davis, we collectively say that either everyone matters or no one matters
