Some would argue the images of the four men on our monument, Generals Lee, Jackson, Beauregard, and Allen, should not be on monuments memorializing them for their fight to protect our freedoms. I quote a great scholar on this subject..."Confederate generals were fighting for independence from the Union just as George Washington and other generals fought for independence from Great Britain.
