The Bethnal Green Library, together with the wider conservation area Bethnal Green Gardens are in urgent need of updating.  The library, grade ll listed, the roof leaks, the window frames in need of urgent response.  The gardens adjacent to the library, in great need of attention, as well as a maintenance strategy.

This iconic area dating to 1667, the reign of King Charles ll, given to the people as green space, made into ornamental gardens 1895.

Should the area fail through neglect, Bethnal Green, indeed London would be poorer.  It must surely be up to the guardians of this conservation area, namely Tower Hamlets council with, Mayor John Biggs, to care for our history and treasure our identity

Accordingly the request is to the Mayor of Tower Hamlets to redress the situation by ensuring this historic, conservation area is maintained to a high standard, giving the area the respect it most certainly deserves.
