I moved from a location where my hydro electric power was delivered by Hydro One. Since moving to Wasaga Beach, our electric bill is less than 10% of what it was from Hydro One.

I would be remiss if I also didn't disclose that my current house is more energy efficient, and my heat is gas instead of forced air electric power. This is somewhat offset by the fact that the old house had no air conditioning, which we have in our Wasaga location. Even adding in my gas costs to my Wasaga Distribution charges, it is still less than 20% of my old Hydro One bill.

Many of the major charges from Hydro One were for the huge accumulated debt accrued for either failed, abandoned, or other such projects that had little to do with delivering power to my house.

I consider Wasaga Distribution a little known jewel in the decision to move here and stay here. The council is discussing informally, and somewhat formally the idea of selling this built in advantage to our citizens. The mayor has issued a political non-statement that reads he will "ensure the best interests of taxpayers, ratepayers and the broader community."

This petition lays out our express wishes. "Mr. Mayor and Wasaga Council Members, do not sell Wasaga Distribution under any circumstance.
