“What wouldThe Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle has asked that I respond to the Petition, "The Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Councillor Robert Doyle: Rename The Avenue in Parkville to STAR WARS AVENUE for Star Wars day 2013”, on his behalf. We appreciate this request from the Star Wars Appreciation Society and we hope that all involved enjoy their celebrations on May the 4th. After considering this proposal, the City of Melbourne has decided not to rename The Avenue on May 4. Formally renaming a street for a day isn’t practical, as it’s quite costly and involves a lengthy administrative process. Thank you for taking the time to bring this creative concept to our attention and may I once again wish the Star Wars Appreciation Society all the very best for their celebrations on May 4.
