Board of Trustees Meeting

Dear Supporters, First, thank you so very much for signing the petition. Public declarations and shows of support for victims/survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence do make a difference. It represents one step, an important step, to end rape and abuse culture. So thank you, again. The Lincoln University (PA) Board of Trustees has a meeting this Saturday. We do not know what the outcome of this meeting will be, and we cannot be assured YET that the right actions will be taken. We are determined to amplify OUR VOICES even more to ensure that there is no doubt about what the morally correct course of action is; please help us by doing the following: 1) Recruit at least one (1) more person to sign the petition in the next 24 hours - if we all do this then we will have well over 1,000 signatories; if we all recruit just 3 more people in the next 24 hours, then there will be over 2,000 signatures. 2) Please post a link to the petition in any groups on any social media platforms that you are a part of, especially if the groups are about: sexual violence, intimate partner violence, domestic abuse, child abuse, education, HBCUs, women's issues, men against rape/patriarchy, social justice, reproductive justice, etc. 3) Lastly, please e-mail (dbrown@lincoln.edu) and/or call (484-365-8107) the Office of the Board of Trustees at Lincoln University to register your outrage over Pres. Jennings' comments and voice support for the petition. Templates for e-mails and phone script are below, and will only take 60 seconds. Communicating our hurt and demands via multiple means is an effective tool, so please take the time to send a quick e-mail or make a call. E-MAIL TEMPLATE: "Dear The Lincoln University Board of Trustees, My name is _______, and I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with Pres. Robert R. Jennings' remarks regarding rape and sexual assault at the All Women's Convocation in September 2014. His comments, whether he was consciously aware or not, are victim blaming and constitute implicit support for rape culture. His response to the justified outrage shows his total lack of empathy and understanding. As a result, there is a crisis of confidence in his leadership and he should be removed immediately as president of The Lincoln University. His comments, actions, and inactions are unworthy of the legacy of the nations's first HBCU. Lastly, I ask the Board to take immediate steps to implement the course of action as outlined in the Change.Org Petition of the Not My LU Campaign (https://www.change.org/p/the-lincoln-university-pa-board-of-trustees-fire-pres-jennings-start-prog).
