IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE FOURTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT OF THE STATE OF IDAHO, IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF ADA

In the Matter of the Petition for Name Change:

AARON JOSEPH REIS

Case No. CV 01 23.12717

ORDER DENYING PETITION FOR NAME CHANGE

This case came before the court on November 16, 2023, for a petition to change the name of Aaron Joseph Ries to "Suicidal." After reviewing the petition and the sworn testimony from Mr. Reis, this Court finds that it is not "right and proper" to change Mr. Reis' name to "Suicidal." I.C. 7-804. Although Mr. Reis expressed some rational for the change, the Court did not find it to be compelling. The Court believes allowing Mr. Reis to change his name to

"Suicidal" would not be socially appropriate and contrary to public interest. The word "suicidal" means "dangerous especially to life" or "destructive to one's own

interests." https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/suicidal (11/21/2023).

This word is not suitable as a name and is likely offensive to those who have

been affected by loved ones who have perished by suicide.

THEREFORE: This petition for Name Change is DENIED.

IT IS SO ORDERED.
