Thank you everyone for your continued support.
There has recently been a proposal from CCDHB presented to the Ministry of Health but there are some very important points that you should know.
(1) the proposal is for Ashley to be moved to a yet-to-be-built cottage on the same campus as Tawhirimatea
(2) this would mean the same mind-set and perspective as Ashley has been subjected to all these years. Ashley would lose the Community Connections staff, who have been working with Ashley in preparation for moving him into the community and with whom he has the best relationship
(3) the proposal was not discussed with family prior to it's approval
(4) the family have not seen any written documentation
(5) no time-frames have been given to the family
Since Ashley received dental treatment after waiting for eight years, consisting of the removal of seven rotten teeth, treatment of a sinus abscess and bone removal; he has shown a marked overall improvement. Ashley is now more verbal, more motivated and his behaviour has improved significantly.
Due to the latest proposal, the petition and support of the public is more important and valuable than ever. Please continue to share within your networks.
Thanks
