Gordon Banks, the former England World Cup winning goalkeeper, recently deceased. A charity fund raiser, had been nominated for a knighthood, but current rules mean that he will not be allowed the award that he richly deserved due to his death.
The Supporters Council of Stoke City Football Club, with the support of Gordon’s family and the Stoke City Old Boys Association (SCOBA) are asking for a review of the current legislation in order that Gordon may receive this deserved honour in due course.
