Hello all and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! First off, we would like to thank each one of you who read, signed, and have shown support for Quentin.
Because of having been assigned several lawyers, Quentin is still in his post-conviction appeal process
After a long 7 years we finally received the records from Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) that PROVE the State allowed false testimony:
· Michael Carr, the previous states attorney allowed testimony and told the jury that Quentin was locked up with someone named Tyree Neal in Illinois Department of Corrections and this is where a plan was hatched to murder Mr. Miller.
· After multiple requests, multiple attorneys Quentin’s current attorney Mr. Matt Foster, was able to subpoena and obtain the records from Illinois Department of Corrections that confirms Quentin and Tyree Neal were never incarcerated together…which dispels the State’s theory of a “murder for hire”
· The prior SA knowingly used false testimony which led to Quentin’s wrongful conviction
· “If the prosecution obtains a criminal conviction using evidence that it knows is false, the conviction violates the defendant's constitutional right to due process (e.g., Napue v. Illinois, 1959)”. Cases where it’s proven the State used false evidence against someone should be thrown out.
· In November 2020, Michael Carr was defeated by the now current Jackson County State’s Attorney, Joe Cervantez, who ran and won his campaign on the premise of making the advancement of criminal justice reform part of the mission of the State’s Attorney’s Office
· SA, Joe Cervantez is working toward “rebuilding the office and the trust between Law Enforcement and Southern Illinois Communities”, has established a Citizens Advisory Board to provide a point of engagement with the community, and is “establishing a conviction and sentencing review committee made up of members of the community”
· We are asking the current Jackson County State’s Attorney, Joe Cervantez, to right one of the many wrongs of his predecessor and review Quentin’s case and bring him home.
It has been a long time coming…but FINALLY…A CHANGE is GONNA COME.
WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!!!
· We are asking ALL of Quentin’s supporters and everyone who believes in Truth and Justice, to contact Mr. Joe Cervantez, Jackson County State’s Attorney and ask him to please right this wrong.
