Today I spoke with Alex Best, Minister Ley's adviser for this matter. Due to the forthcoming election they are in "Caretaker mode " meaning major decisions in regards to this can't be made but neither can the tender be stopped . However this doesn't mean any changes will happen until after the election. Once we know who will be responsible for implementation we can then restart discussions. What was interesting was this apparently isn't a cost saving initiative but one to streamline the products which I think is easier to argue against. He also agreed that Ostonates wouldn't be disadvantaged by any decision. He advised to keep going with the petition and will be happy to meet to discuss further should they be re-elected otherwise we'll start again with the new Minister. On the whole I feel that we will have a positive outcome . Keep the petition circulating .
