100+ Years of Australians in Antarctica

Hello supporters! Thanks for being there. 

A global pandemic is a challenging time to be raising support for a heritage cause: we're all very focussed on getting through the days and weeks, and rightly so. 

Our heritage is still important though: our past informs the present, and helps us navigate to the future. 

For that reason, we are thrilled to advise we have formed a partnership with the Maritime Museum of Tasmania, where we will be setting up a small display on the Aurora Australis. 

One item we hope to include is this Australian Red Ensign which flew over the Aurora Australis as she left Hobart in early 2012 on her way to Antarctica. 

She was setting off for the Centenary Voyage, marking 100 years since the departure of Douglas Mawson and the Australasian Antarctic Expedition of 1911-1914. 

Everyone on board the AA on that day in 2012 later signed this ensign, and it now a memento that links 100 years of Australian travel and enterprise in the Antarctic. 

Thanks again for your support to the AAF, and please share our petition with your friends and family! We have almost 3000 signatures, and we will be keeping the petition open as long as the ship remains in Australia.
