THANK YOU to all of you who have signed, shared and liked my petition calling for cigarette-style labels on single-use coffee cups.

We are about to hit 50,000 signatures!

Just consider, if every one of you who signed this petition changed that daily single-use habit every morning, over a year we could save up to 18,250 000 cups from entering the environment or waste stream.

Once I have reached this milestone, I intend to email the new Minister for the Environment,  The Hon Melissa Price MP. Hopefully she will seriously consider cigarette-style labels as part of the solution, along with some of the other great ideas generated by this petition. I will also email the NSW Environment Minister, Gabrielle Upton.

In addition to my petition idea, I also believe that there needs to be a more coordinated approach to recycling by the large takeaway coffee and drink providers such as McDonald's, 7-Eleven and Starbucks. 7-Eleven and Muffin Break are leading the way by partnering with Simply Cups to directly recycle their cups, but if we could have a coordinated approach to the recycling from all the large players, I believe it would make a big difference to what actually ends up being recycled.

Please comment if you have any other good ideas to help close the loop on recycling cups, whether they contain coffee or other beverages and I will include them in my letter to the Ministers.

Thanks for your support and for caring.

Anna
