Dear all - we're now closing the petition because the NSW greyhound welfare code has been finalised. We thank each and everyone of you for your support. Every signature counted and every comment is valued.

We began this petition knowing that the NSW government would resist improvements to the code, but as someone said once - 'always go down fighting'!

While there are many, many things wrong with the final version of the code (and you can read more about that here), at least:

• the 30mins/day minimum period out of a cage for exercise was put back into the new code,
• the minimum cage space was increased from 3m2 to 3.5m2 for actively racing greyhounds.

The volunteers who make up the Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds (CPG) will certainly fight on and your support of the petition meant we could draw the attention of many people to this issue by way of media coverage. The most recent two items of coverage are here and here.
