Anyone who lives in our community is well aware that there is a serious dog problem.  There are dogs who are left without food/shelter.  There are dogs that are allowed to run wild through the streets - free to attack as they choose.  There are puppies given to people who do not care for them - there are freezing puppies scratching and crying to get into a warm home.  The GNT have laws pertaining to the wellbeing and ownership of dogs - yet our community does not adhere to them.  We need a by-law officer.  Someone who is empathetic to the plight of dogs and willing to enforce the laws to make sure they receive proper care.  There should be a dog tax, tags provided -and the owners should be held accountable for the pets they choose.
