Petition updateReinstate the mallard on the proposed statue of Sir Nigel Gresley

Will we see the mallard reinstated at tomorrow's AGM?

Sculptor Hazel Reeves' statue of Sir Nigel Gresley is on schedule for the planned unveiling in April 2016, with the mould now made and at the foundry for casting in bronze. Unfortunately the Gresley Society Council still refuse to accept that they may have been mistaken in telling Ms Reeves to remove the mallard from the statue, despite overwhelming support for its inclusion. The Society has its Annual General Meeting tomorrow, and although - incredibly - the statue is not on the published agenda, the subject will surely be raised. Many Society members are unhappy with the decision to remove the mallard, and the way the situation has been handled since that decision. They have not been asked for their views; tomorrow is the opportunity to express them anyway. So, we hope for the best. I will be in touch after the meeting with news of the outcome. Thanks as ever for your support. best wishes Libby
