3.287 million Sq Kms, upward of 1.25 billion people and a contingent of 118 competitors went goldless, with just two medals in their kitty. In stark contrast country like Great Briton, with 1/30th of our geographical area and a 1/20th of our population, had more than 33 times our medal tally, with 27 golds. 

Even a country like Japan, with 1/86th of our area and 1/10 our population, had more than 20 times our medal tally, with 12 golds.

What is ailing our sports, The answer is evident. Sports, in all successful countries is run be sports superstars, the International OA is headed by a one time gold medalist and the IAAF by the legendary Sebastian Coe. Who head the OA and the other sports bodies in India ? POLITICANS.

The self serving Politicians, who know nothing of the sports they head and manage, are the bane of sports. 

We need an overhaul in the sports ethos of our Country, of the type initiated for cricket by our Supreme Court.

Let us have a sports bill introduced by the GoI and passed by the Parliament, within the next six months,

debarring all politicians and bureaucrats from holding office in sports bodies;

enforce a 3 yrs continuous term and a 9 yrs aggregate term limit on holding of office;

only gold medalists at international levels to be heads of sports federations/associations;

the ministry of company/corporate Affairs to make it compulsory :

   (a)        sponsorship of at least one sports made compulsory by all top                   corporates;

   (b)        other corporates to be made responsible for producing one                          medal winner in Olympics;

Target 2020, Japan. Let us produce at least 50 medal winners, with at least 20 golds.
