Dear All
Thank you very much for all your support for Myrtle and our petition this year! Due to your vital support the petition has continued to be highlighted/reported in the media over the last couple of days: articles in the Independent and Guardian, a reportage by RT News, a radio interview with BBC5 Live and an update by ITV News. We have nearly reached 50,000 signatures - a tremendous achievement!
We need your continued support to reach 100,000 signatures in order to trigger a parliamentary debate on Myrtle's case and on the adult dependent relative rule in the Immigration Rules that has made so difficult for Myrtle, Mary and others who wish to look after their elderly relatives. Please keep circulating and forwarding the petition - we can't do it without you and every signature counts!
Myrtle's daughter, Mary, has this Christmas message for you all:
"Thank you so much to everyone supporting my Mother and for sharing the petition. Your support and comments on the petition are overwhelming! Thank you to our barrister Jan Doerfel for starting this petition and to Ann Widdecombe for her support and a big thank you to Change.org - you have been tremendous! I am hoping now that the Home Office will give my Mum a huge Christmas present by granting her Leave to Remain in the UK, the country she has always loved and still does - A Merry Xmas to you all!"
