In March 2015 12 men attacked Simon Dobbin and another Cambridge Fan after the game between Southend United and Cambridge United.

Simon Dobbin was left with with life changing injuries; Severe brain damage, and unable to walk or talk. Mr Dobbin had not been involved in any trouble during the march and was in Southend simply to enjoy a football match.

The 12 men were convicted on 14th July 2017 of Violent Conduct, and subsequently sentenced to a range of custodial sentences from 16 months to 5 years. All of the men were also given a 10 year banning order. A 13 man was convicted of assisting an Offender, but has yet to be sentenced.

Southend United have, to their credit, completely distanced themselves from the actions of these thugs, and have announced that the 12 attackers will be banned for life from all Southend games.

We the undersigned call upon the England and Wales FA to send a clear message to all those thinking about similar actions. We ask them to work with ALL clubs within England and Wales, in all leagues, to ensure that these 12 thugs are banned for life from all Football games for life, including League, non-league, and all cups and competitions.
