#iVoted: A New Initiative to Let Fans into All Concerts on Election Day

Music industry entrepreneur Emily White, along with the support of Mike Luba at Madison House and Pat Sansone of Wilco, have launched a new initiative for the concert industry titled #iVoted. The concept is for promoters, venues, artists, managers and all in the live entertainment industry to let fans in their doors on November 6th, 2018 (one year from the launch of this petition), who show a photo of themselves outside their polling place. The goal is to support voter turnout for the next national election in the United States.

Says White, “Voter turnout numbers in the United States are depressing, falling well behind the majority of developed countries around the globe. 40% of those eligible vote in midterm elections and we want to rally folks to get out and vote, and then come to a show and celebrate.” White approached longtime colleagues Luba and Sansone with the idea following the 2016 elections after viewing turnout numbers from her home state of Wisconsin. “Folks just plain stayed home. And I get it. Voting happens on a workday. I control my own schedule and still have to make an effort to carve out time to not only show up and vote, but take the time to research candidates. With #iVoted, we want to encourage voter turnout for all so folks can unwind a bit on election night and catch a show.”

#iVoted has launched this public petition today to encourage all in the entertainment industry, as well as fans, to show their support for the movement. “We’ve been thrilled by the immediate responses and surge of interest led by Stacie George at Live Nation committing Irving Plaza, The Gramercy Theatre, and Warsaw as well as Peter Shapiro and Brooklyn Bowl in New York in addition to Amy Corbin and Margaret Galton at C3 for for Stubb’s, Emo’s and Scoot Inn in Texas. We’re talking to promoters in Seattle, Nashville, Chicago, St. Louis, Houston, and beyond. By going public with the concept, we can more quickly get to all venues in America to truly get involved and galvanize voter turnout throughout the United States,” White added.

Select artists and venues will be offering VIP upgrades and meet & greets via drawings for fans who post their photos on social media, tagging the venue and artist they’re going to see that night.

#iVoted looks forward to revolutionizing voter turnout in 2018 and beyond by seeing fans in front of signs such as “Vote here!” on November 6th of next year.
