 Respected Sir/Madam,

 1.      We, the undersigned, are a community of underprivileged Tribal Naurikuravar people (presently Backward Community status) who are residing in abysmal conditions at Jipsi Colony, Kotturpuram (Ward No.172 & 180). We do not have any access to decent housing and basic facilities in spite of living in this area for several decades. We are therefore left with no option but to continue to live in an unhygienic environment, which is not only surrounded by garbage but also has little to no sanitation facilities.

 2.      In August 2013, the Office of Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) had proposed a housing rehabilitation scheme for our community. In accordance with procedures laid down, the TNSCB had placed the proposal before your office so as to receive requisite consent from the State Government to ‘Enter Upon Agreement’ for the Project of Construction of Homes under Rajiv Gandhi Awaas Yojana (RAY) Housing Scheme. The Scheme was for an extent of 1.98 acres of land for the Resettlement of Narikoravar Community @ Chennai District, Mylapore Triplicane Taluk, Kottur Village, Town Survey No.2, Area Block 8, as can be observed through the Letter vide ந.க. எண்: LA1(2)/13945/13 dated 19.08.2013.

 3.      This proposal has however been pending since and for a long time no action has been taken to receive the consent required for the project.

 4.      Our community continues to suffer from discrimination and neglect. Moreover several people in our community, including several children, pick garbage for a living.

In the light of the above, we most humbly request you to receive/grant State Government Consent on an urgent basis, in accordance with procedures laid down, so that the Rajiv Gandhi Awaas Yojana (RAY) Housing Scheme in the extent of 1.98 acres of land for the Resettlement of Narikoravar Community at Chennai District, Mylapore Triplicane Taluk, Kottur Village, Town Survey No.2, Area Block 8 can proceed.

Thanking you.

 Sincerely,
