Delayed resurface and potential cross party meeting

Today is my last day of any planned coaching. I am coaching some players today I have worked with for 8 years so it's quite frustrating really...This is because of the potential tender but also because I had hoped to have definite details of the resurface months ago. August 19th has been in the diary for two years as the day the CWG leave VP and obviously we have been waiting for four years. However, we are now being told it's been pushed back to late Sept and will take approx 6 weeks. The photo was taken on 16th January 2022 9-10am. New courts full and old courts unplayable... I can't take another winter on court looking at that when my licence says 10 all weather courts. 

In terms of good news... I have now finally received compensation for the 301 missed coaching sessions from 2018 to 2020. These sessions had to be cancelled due to health and safety reasons as the courts were so old they failed the slip tests. This doesn't help the players who missed their tennis though. Also, no compensation has been offered for 2020 to 2022 when 6 courts were unplayable for the winter months and we lost 20% of our floodlit courts... This meant we lost our 7 junior teams and had to rotate between matches/coaching/mix ins. It also meant we couldn't take on another full time coach as there wasn't the court space.

However, a potential glimmer of hope... Councillor Day has suggested a cross party meeting. Councillors are busy with the CWG and then have annual leave planned but apparently this meeting will be after that. This is the first time this has been suggested and we hope that there's now agreement that the report the tender is based on did not include all the compromises made by VP since 2018, including paying less court rental due to failing courts, which impacts the financial outcomes.
