Dear supporters.
The hearing on SB148, the bill to defund the Nest Predator Bounty Program, is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10. We urgently need voices from South Dakota residents and from people in neighboring states who are affected by South Dakota policy — Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and other nearby states.
Please help us stop this cruel, useless, and wasteful program by submitting a written comment on the South Dakota Legislature website. Your comments will be delivered directly to members of the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, who will decide whether this program continues.
Supporters of the bounty program will be doing the same, but in the opposite direction. Without your voice, this bill will not move. If SB148 fails, the senseless killing will continue: more than 50,000 native animals and their young will be killed every year, promoted as “outdoor recreation” and a “fun activity for kids.”
How to submit your comment (this will take a couple of minutes):
Go to the SD Legislature page: https://sdlegislature.gov/Testify/301804
1. Enter your information
2. Select “For” on SB 148
3. Leave a brief comment in your own words
You do not need to write a long essay, leave that to NGOs. What matters most is the number of short comments. Your simple voice “For SB148” is critically important to save tens of thousands of wild animals every year.
