On April 25th, 2019 yonkers lost a beautiful soul by the name of Marilyn Cotto Montanez . The incident occurred on the corner of Lake Avenue and Morningside Avenue where a suspect drew his gun from being in a confrontation prior to the tragedy and senselessly striked and killed Marilyn Cotto Montanez who was on her way to the store with her little sister Tuti to get supplies for her art project . In midst of being struck she managed to save the life of her little sister by telling her to run . One of the many selfless acts she demonstrated on this earth. Marilyn was a beautiful light that shined on her community, friends , family and most of all her school . She lived in this neighborhood for majority of her life and shared countless amazing memories on these streets . She carried such a peace that will be missed dearly. Nothing will ever bring this beautiful girl back but the least anyone can do is make the street she grew up on , smiled , laughed , cried & had her most horrific life event occur on named after her . A neighborhood hero who always thought selflessly , laughed obnoxiously, was so sarcastic but carried so much wit , a angle who just wanted to be a doctor , go to prom and do something with her life . Marilyn carried so much value , and purpose all we’re asking is you take a step to do one last selfless act in memory of a beautiful gem that always thought of others before her self . Marilyn was taken oh so soon and everyone is in complete shock and heartache because of this tragic event . Join in uplifting her name , she didn’t deserve any of this.
