Stop Stanley Park and other irresponsible developments in the Houston Floodplain

Stop Stanley Park and other irresponsible developments in the Houston Floodplain

The Issue

Commercial developers are building dangerous and irresponsible housing developments in the 100- and 500-year floodplains directly adjacent to a neighborhood that was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. These developers are trying to finish these projects before safer flood regulations take place, often with nearly- or completely-expired permits and questionable practices. They are harming protected wildlife areas and endangering citizens.

We want our local and state government to show their dedication to preserving the safety of their citizens and stopping these irresponsible, last-minute developments. We want these developments stopped- and to see real action on the promises made by our government to "make a change".
