Petition updateThe City of Cleveland Failed CMSD Schools and Children: Tell Cuyahoga to Step In NowCleveland's Fraud on Schools: Using Food Inspections to Dodge Mandatory School Safety Oversight

The City of Cleveland is not conducting the mandatory biannual school health and safety inspections required by Ohio Administrative Code 3707.26. Instead, the City and CMSD point to basic food-service inspections as if they meet the law's requirements. They don't. This deliberate failure of oversight allowed dangerous building hazards, including a partially collapsed roof, to go uninspected and unaddressed, putting students and staff at risk. By refusing to enforce 3707.26, the City gave CMSD cover to claim schools were "unsafe" and shut them down, while avoiding accountability for years of neglect. This is not an accident, it's a pattern of coordinated regulatory neglect designed to justify disinvestment in our schools.
