Brady, Mark Curran: Licensing undocumented immigrants will make Illinois safer

In 2012, Rep. Dan Brady, who is now running for Illinois Secretary of State, Sheriff Mark Curran, who is running for Illinois Supreme Court, and then State Sen. Bill Brady spoke out and supported licensing undocumented immigrants. Bill and Dan Brady both signed this legislation and then Gov. Pat Quinn made this bill law. All three officials worked with the Illinois Coalition for Immigration and Refugee Rights to make this bill law. 

As Sheriff, Mark Curran was also a big supporter of the TRUST Act which made Illinois a sanctuary state for undocumented immigrants. The TRUST ACT prohibits law enforcement from inquiring or investigating the citizenship or immigration status or place of birth of any individual in the agency or official's custody or who has otherwise been stopped or detained by the agency or official.

Curran has long been an advocate for the undocumented and was featured in a PBS documentary on the subject.
