The Issue

Durham Regional Police Constable Beth Richardson, a 17-year police veteran, has been charged with discreditable conduct, under the Police Services Act, for taking a cat to the vet. Constable Richardson responded to a 911 call re a person dealing with substance abuse issues who had reportedly been using crystal meth for 3 days. I trust her judgment on scene that the animal was in distress and that her actions were warranted and justified.  The charges under the Police Services Act should be dropped.
