The Issue

I feel that female students of schools are being discriminated against for the clothing they were.  I believe that banning the girls from wearing yoga pants and tights because its distracting for the boys and teachers to be very sexist.

Young boys or girls can walk down any street in the city/or town they live in or around any mall, or beach and see bear skin on girls and boys.  They can look in magazines or read about it in books, they see it on TV in the shows they watch and in the games they play.  We live in a free country where people have died so that we can have the freedoms and we teach our children that we all have rights.   We teach our children that they shouldn’t be bullied or picked on or singled out by other students.  We teach them that it is okay for them to be gay, lesbian, or straight.  We teach them to be strong and to stand up for themselves and to protect themselves from strangers and other people.  We teach them to say no to drugs, drinking and smoking.  We teach them to get a good education. We teach them to be cautious of the places they go.  We teach them to be in groups when outside so they are safer.  We teach them to be proud of whom they are and what they look like and what they wear, and then we send them to school where they are teaching the young girls to be ashamed of how they look in a certain article of clothing. Who exactly is being punished when the boys are distracted by what the girls are wearing?  It seems to me that it’s the girls. How is this fair?  Can the schools provide research and proof that girl’s who don’t wear yoga pants and tights perform better than girls who do?  Can the schools provide research and proof that boys are distracted and don’t learn anything when a female student wears tights or yoga pants?

What the schools are concentrating on is what do the boy’s think about this?  How does what my daughter wears to school affect the leaning of the boys?  A boy is going to be distracted by a girl no matter what she has on, a tight shirt, yoga pants, jeans, pajamas, sweat pants the list goes on.   This is the age they are at.   Maybe the parents of the boys should be having conversations with their son’s indicating that it doesn’t matter what a person is wearing they still deserve respect. Do the schools sit back and think about how the girls feel when they are informed by the terachers they can’t wear yoga pants or tights?  Are teh schools more concerned on how the boys feel.

One principal informes my husband and I that it’s not just the boys in the school she is concerned about.  This poses a whole different concern, if the clothing of these young girls is so distracting the teachers can’t teach maybe the teacher is in the wrong industry.  Maybe they need to have a criminal record check more than just once when they are first hired.  If parents want to volunteer at the school they need to provide the school with a criminal record check each year.  Why do teachers only need to complete one when they are hired.  If that teacher is in the school for 10 years and they had a clear check 10 years ago, a lot can happen in 10 years.  We wonder why there are so many teachers being charged with rape and sexual intentions with students, maybe this is part of the reason.  These teachers remained a clear record so that they could get the position within the schools where they would have full access to all our children.  How comforting is this as a parent.  Should we be more worried about the young boys or the teachers and the way they are thinking?

I am not a fan and I fully support the banning of leggings that are see though, I do not support that fact that young girls are being punished for the way the teachers are perceiving the boys are thinking. I am not okay that the school is okay with the boys who show their underwear at the tops of their pants because they are wearing them lower than they really should be worn.  I am not a fan of misogyny, dictatorship, and discrimination.  Please sign below to support our young girls in school across the country.
