Award winning Lothian Cleft Team decimated

The attached article explains the terrible effect that centralisation has had on our Cleft Service. Our award winning East of Scotland team has been destroyed. A spokesman for NHS National Services Scotland claims “The changes have been put in place to ensure a sustainable, resilient and high-quality service for current and future surgical care for all patients with clefts who live in Scotland.” I wonder how many East of Scotland patients will say that we currently have a high- quality service? Regrettably, centralisation is now the way forward for so many NHS services even though evidence frequently suggests this is so wrong.
