SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 11 MAY 2016

There is an error on the accompanying page of the consultation document issued by NSD which states “if you wish to comment on our proposal then please do so by 1st May 2016**. You can do this in a number of ways as an individual, group or organisation by: Calling us: 0131 275 6269 E-mailing us: NSS.nsd-administration@nhs.net Writing to us: Cleft Surgical Services Proposal, National Services Division, NHS National Services Scotland, Gyle Square, 1 South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh, EH12 9EB” **This is incorrect; the correct date is 11 MAY 2016. So good news, you have an extra 10 days to write your objections. Whilst the petition numbers are increasing daily and fast approaching 5000, which is absolutely fantastic, at the last stage of the review ( December 2015) only 14 families formally submitted comments/ objections to the proposal. This was hugely disappointing considering there are 2265 cleft families in Scotland. I have to balance the low numbers with the fact very few people actually knew about the proposal, however, as we now have almost 5000 signatures we now more than ever need to prove to NSD /NHS that we really don’t want this merger. If you can spare a few more minutes please write a quick email to the above address and give your reasons for opposing the move to a single site in Glasgow. This is especially important if you have a family member directly affected by the potential change. Grandparents, aunts, cousins, friends etc. are also encouraged to write. It doesn’t need to be a novel just a few points will do. The more individual letters NSD get the clearer the message is that we don’t want this change Thank you for your continuing support.
