Illinois has red flag laws. They did not work in the case of the mass killings at the Highland Park Fourth of July Parade. 

Highland Park has an excellent police force and commendable mental health facilities. They did not save the seven people killed and more than 30 wounded that day. Even though the killer was known to police and had made threats and attempted suicide in the past. 

We must ban all assault-type, semiautomatic weapons!

We must have a far more stringent background check system!
