Whenever there is a fight for justice and equality, this fight inevitably gets made into a movie. LOVING is a story about a black woman and white man who fell in love in Caroline County in Virginia, USA. Mix-race marriages were illegal in that state at that time. The movie brilliantly and sensitively shows the life of two people who were threatened with jail just because they loved each other. LOVING Vs VIRGINIA went to the SUPREME COURT and it was there that Mixed Race marriages were declared legal in all 50 states. Loving v. Virginia Supreme Court of the United States Argued April 10, 1967 Decided June 12, 1967 Full case name Richard Perry Loving, Mildred Jeter Loving v. Virginia Citations 388 U.S. 1 (more) 87 S. Ct. 1817; 18 L. Ed. 2d 1010; 1967 U.S. LEXIS 1082 Ruth Negga deserves the OSCAR tonight for her role in LOVING - a movie I urge everyone to watch - and dare I say "SOME" need to watch this movie. Bermuda has had signifiant dates on the journey to equality, hopefully another will soon be part of that journey. https://www.facebook.com/TonyBrannonBDA/posts/10155194818706015?notif_t=like¬if_id=1488099488155013
