This year has been extraordinary, there is no doubt about that.
Can we please put out a general call to the Education Departments (especially the Victorian Education department) to try and understand that all kids in out of home care come from some form of trauma background.
This being the case 'Home schooling' will bring with it greater challenges than faced by students who live with their parents. That's a given.
You can assist these kids by recognising they may not be able to complete the required work in the required time frame.
You can assist their carers by recognising that they may not be able to help or teach the kids the way others are taught.
By being sensitive and supportive you can help both the kids and the carers to survive this extraordinary year, and manage to some extent.
Be kind, be supportive and be caring.
