Dear Supporters
Thanks again for your patience.
Many have approached us and asked why we can't get a cross on or near the Mount this Christmas.
So yesterday we came together with the Mt Roskill Minister's Association and decided to lodge an event application to have a cross erected just below the summit. It will be visible to passing traffic and much of Roskill.
However, the old cross was very heavy, required a crane to erect, costed approximately $6,000 a year to put up and remove, and no longer has the supporting electrical supply as the Maunga Authority ripped it out of the ground a few years ago.
So, we're going to build a new one. It will be lighter, more mobile, illuminated, and solar powered. It'll be big and visible, and it'll be ours.
We're currently talking with a number people about the best designs and ways to do this. If you have expertise to offer, do contact us.
We also need funding. Please chip in if you can, here:

There's also a Facebook poll open on the question of whether the cross should stay. Please go to this link and vote!
As said in the last update, the Local Board-led process will commence after the local election in November. It will then hopefully go to the public. We'll keep you updated on that.
Kind regards,
Jonathan Subritzky and Ella Kumar
